Market Square
Market Square   Market Square was founded in 1892 and is the largest Mexican marketplace outside of Mexico. Once a flourishing produce market, over the years merchants diversified and started offering unique products from all over the world. Now there are three markets in Market Square, the Farmers Market, El Mercado and Produce Row, all rich with a sense of the Mexican culture. Here you can dine on authentic Mexican food at one of the several restaurants and cafes, including Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery and La Margarita. Explore the many shops filled with warm blankets, clothes, metal and leather goods and more all imported from south of the border. Dance to the lively music of Mariachi bands, and enjoy a frosty margarita from a street vendor. Market square hosts many special events and fairs throughout the year, including Fiesta del Mercado, Diez y Seis, Fiestas Navidenas and Dia de los Muertos. It almost seems like there is a celebration almost every day at the vibrant market. Market Square plays an important role in the uniqueness of San Antonio, filled with beauty, charm, history and culture.
